Today was not the kind of day we wanted

So the morning started off with me on 3 hrs of sleep. Alex's last meal was at 3:00 am and we were on the road to CHLA by 4:45. By 6:30 Am, we were waiting in the recovery room for Alex to be taken to the Cath lab. 7:25 he was taken (crying when he left my arms) to the lab. We were told 2-3 hours. At 9:15, we got a call saying he had an extra vessel located in area where the Glenn would be done, also known as a collateral vessel. These are normal occurrences, but since it can cause issues after the Glen, they put a spring put into the vessel to form a blood clot and stop the flow. We were told it would be another 45 min. At 10:30 we sat down with his cardiologist. She explained to us that he did good, but did need some help with his oxygen saturations. She then got a call, yelled "oh crap" and ran out the door. I lost it!! Turns out Alexander's oxygen saturations went down to 30's and they thought they were going to have to use the paddle because he was coding but turns out the EKG was reading wrong. Chest compressions were still done but apparently not needed. Alex was intubated again and was taken to CTICU because of it. We originally thought we would be in cv acute until Thursday but not anymore. One positive for the day, we did get a room at RMH. Once we got into CTICU, Alexander's saturations were looking good and the doctors and repertory therapist decided to work on getting him extubated. They weened him off the sedative and lowered his CO2. As we waited to open his eyes, he began getting upset because of the tube (thrashing from side to side) and turning blue as his oxygen saturations decreased down to the teens! I once again freaked out! He now is back on a sedative, still intubated, and is finally (17 hrs later) getting to eat via an NG tub. The talk is to have him extubated tomorrow... Oh how I hope for a smooth night and a positive day tomorrow! I REALLY want my superman back! Prayers and positive thoughts are needed.
